Did you know that your spiritual inheritance in Christ does not perish, spoil or decay.
(1 Peter 1:4)
It is everlasting and no one can take it away from you.
It belongs to you and is rightfully yours in Christ.
You are probably more familiar with worldly inheritance which is good in it’s own way.
However, although this may be the case, it doesn’t take away from the fact that it is still temporal and not everlasting.
Worldly Inheritance can be defined as something passed down from one’s parents to them, or the act of receiving something passed down from one’s parents.
Good as it is, it is still perishable and susceptible to spoil and decay.
Through your spiritual inheritance in Christ, you have rights of inheritance that you as a believer in Christ,
are free to exercise which are entirely based on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross.
According to scripture when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.
We are no longer under the law but under the grace of God.
God chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.
In love scripture tells us he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ,
in accordance with his pleasure and will
Through Christ we have received full rights as sons and daughters of the most High God,
2 Corinthians 6:18
That we are free to exercise,
However, when it comes to claiming the Benefits of our inheritance in Christ.
There are characteristics of our inheritance as believers which when claimed gives us those rights
This includes our identity in Christ.
Our identity puts us in a position to claim what is rightly ours in Christ Jesus,
We are co heirs scripture tells us with Christ.
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again;
rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.
And by him we cry, “Abba, Father
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
Now if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and co heirs with Christ,
My prayer is that you continue to take hold of everything that you have received in Christ and exercise your God given rights as a child of God in your life.
